Marine Toys for Tots is more than a Christmastime charity – we are a year-round force for good for children in need. In order to provide support to children in need year-round, we are teaming with local nonprofits across the country to distribute toys, books, and other gifts to underprivileged children during the spring and summer months.
HEART, a Good360 Community Redistribution Partner, is a volunteer led and staffed ministry that was established by Hosanna Church and is based in Burnsville, Minnesota. HEART partners with businesses, ministries, and government agencies to provide assistance, both locally and nationally, to families, communities, and individuals in times of need. In early spring, HEART and La Vina Church held a distribution event – Dia de Los Ninos – to provide hope and emotional support to children in need in Queens, New York.
The toys, books, and other gifts – provided by Toys for Tots – were given to 114 smiling and joyful children! One mother in attendance was overwhelmed when she witnessed her two children holding the toys they loved.
“These are joyful moments for me to see in my children’s eyes – fulfilled my happiness,” she said. “Thank you for your donations – my family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.”
HEART also hosted an “End of Summer” celebration in Shakopee. 455 children received toys and games – provided by Toys for Tots! Upon entering the event, families were given a tote bag containing two games and two tickets. Each child was able to redeem the tickets for two toys of their choice – one small and one large. One 4-year-old girl in attendance shared with the volunteers that it was her birthday. “I can’t believe you brought all these toys for my birthday!” she said. “Do I really get to take two home?”
Toy for Tots wants to provide the same happiness to many more children and families across the Nation – that is why we have expanded to a year-round force for good.
Needs aren’t seasonal, and neither is Toys for Tots.
