As children across the Nation headed back to school last month, many of them faced the upcoming school year with a lot less excitement. Marine Toys for Tots wants to give economically disadvantaged children more reasons to smile – that is why we have been partnering with organizations throughout the country to bring light to children who face hardships even as they embark on the new school year.
For 2,000 students in Riviera Beach, Florida, excitement filled the air as they attended the 4th annual Back-to-School Bash, hosted by nonprofit, Sincere 2000! Students gathered at Riviera Beach Marina to receive their brand-new backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and more. The event also distributed 4,500 new toys – provided by Toys for Tots – to the excited children in attendance!
This event was a partnership between Sincere 2000, The City of Riviera Beach, and Morningday Community Solutions (MCS). These agencies collaborated to produce an event that would serve dual purposes in preparing students for a new school year while also raising awareness for mental health challenges.
“We love seeing the joy on the children’s faces when they are able to get a toy that is special for them, and something they’re not able to have every day,” says MCS’s Executive Director Buddy Walck. “But it’s even better when we can partner with an organization like Sincere 2000 and ensure that this toy today is also connecting them to good mental health and a positive future.”
